JJD Kiddie Parade
When my sisters and I were little kids growing up in Northfield, Mom put us in the Jesse James Days Kiddie Parade. We always looked so cute and often times we'd win ribbons! Mom has had great dreams of her grandkids participating in the parade for the last few years. This year I finally agreed! I had ordered the boys' Halloween costumes early, so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to show them off early.
The costumes were expensive and tailor made for the boys, so I decided I better get my money's worth. I came up with the idea last fall when Luke was a tiny baby that the following year they would be Thing One and Two from Cat in the Hat. Jack had become obsessed with the new PBS Cat in the Hat TV show, and that inspired my idea. I searched Etsy for costumes and found the shirts. Jack's a t-shirt and Luke's a onesie. They arrive and I was in love. I wasn't sure about the hair, though. I had google searched for blue Thing One and Two wigs, but they were ugly. I just couldn't find what I was really looking for and then one night after searching Etsy for well over an hour, it appeared! --the most perfect handmade wigs! Problem was, they didn't arrive in time for the parade, so I had to spray paint their hair blue! They looked adorable, but thankfully the wigs arrived this week and I won't have to do that again! I dressed up as the Cat in the Hat! So fun!
