Rickert Christmas 2011...in Des Moines

This year due to babies and pertussis, we ended up postponing our summer Christmas until October.  We met half way in Des Moines.  We all crammed into a few suites and did our best to be festive!  The important part was that we were all together and we were able to see all the new babies!

Luke's First Haircut

I was getting a fair amount of grief from people regarding Luke's hair.  The number one grief giver was his father!  Too many people were mistaking him for a girl, and that didn't sit well with Jay.  I, on the other hand, just thought his hair was too precious to cut.  I refused to cut it until he was at least one.  So, after his first birthday and his first birthday pictures 1 and a half weeks later, I decided to cut his hair at a kid's haircut place while we were in Des. Moines.  I was very apprehensive about the whole deal, and Luke was too!

The gal didn't speak English.  She had another lady translating....that freaked me out....just a bit!

Luke was so upset, we had to finish the haircut in my arms!

All done!  Trimmed up...

Jay thought I should have cut WAY MORE....this was a nice compromise!   The next haircut can be a "big boy" cut...maybe!
